Lowtech malls

If you have been to Davao and visited the Gaisano malls in the city, you must have noticed that these malls use cash registers instead of point of sale system. The mall's cash registers are not interconnected. They usually encounter problems in synchronizing item prices, accounting their sales and retrieving information needed by the cashier, merchandiser and customers as well.

Whereas, in a pos system, sales and revenues are monitored from a central computer. Prices of items and services can also be updated automatically on all pos terminals when the central control changes the designated price of the items.

Another disadvantage I see when they use cash registers instead of point of sale systems, customers are required to ask for an issued receipt from the merchandiser when buying an item. It's a hassle specially when you are in a hurry. There are even instances when the merchandisers are not around. Worse if the cashier requests you to ask for a receipt from the merchandiser after you waited for a long queue.
